Hello all. Today I was delivered some new 5v pixel nodes that I'm not 100% sure what I'll use in as yet, but they were a bargain so could not resist! I'm thinking possibly could be used in some leaping arches or maybe as outlines in some cut out motifs.
But you might be thinking, 5v? I thought you only had 12v PSUs?
Not anymore :)
Today I had confirmation that my new order form China is being shipped today/tomorrow! In it are 2x more strings of the above 5v pixel nodes (I figured 2 lengths wasn't enough!) 2x 5v PSUs, 2x 12v pixel testers (handy for fault finding or as a standalone controller) and 4x P10 panels. These are 32x16 pixels each and can be used as either a scrolling sign with animations or a small display. I'll need to have a play once I get them to decide how to incorporate into the display. They too are only 5v which was the original reason I bought the 5v PSUs. I also still have my strobe string which is also 5v so my plan to keep the entire display at the one voltage is out the window, but not overly important.

I'm continuing to remove the old dumb strip off my conduit and replace with the new pixel strip, using the same corflute as before to save a bit of time & money.
I'm also still deciding which software program to use for sequencing the lights to music. Last year I used Vixen 3 and it's had a bit of an update and looks good, but many people in the ACL forum are saying even better things about xLights 4. Essentially they do the same thing but have little pros & cons to each. xLights has more effects that can be used and is capable of handling larger channel counts. Which is good because at last count I estimated I will be using around 8,100 channels in the show this year!! Just a little upgrade form the 32 channels I had at my disposal last year ;)
As usual, I'll need to get a wriggle on - 46 days until lights on and counting!!
