Welcome to my 2015 blog about the progress of our Christmas lighting display.
A couple of months ago my mancave construction was completed so I know have a dedicated space to make music (being a drummer & DJ) but also a space to store and work on the lights. Got a mate to help build a workbench so no there are really no more excuses as to why I can't have a half-decent display this year. Well, time & money would be the biggest reasons, but I'm hoping they wont be an issue this year!
So this year I plan to upgrade the lights around the roofline by replacing the dumb RGB strip with smart or pixel strip. This means that instead of only having the 5 controllable sections last year the entire outline will be able to controlled, meaning some much more exciting effects that can be executed like chases around the roof or waves/swipes from, left to right. I'll also incorporate the garage door outline too for some increased coverage.
My existing strip will be put to good use. I plan to replace the 240v ropelights on my mini tress form last year with the RGB strip. This means less 240v lights out on the lawn (safer & less expensive to run) plus I will have great control over them and they can be integrated into the computer controlled display.
Stay tuned for more updates on my adventures of #EvansBlinky2015!
