OK, long time no blog (2 months in fact!)
Been very busy at work of late. Given I work in retail, its this time of the year that the Christmas workload really ramps up. But its also been a time for saving money and today, I FINALLY purchased an integral part of this year's display - a DC controller.
More specifically, this.
It's a 48 channel DC light controller, meaning I chop up the current LED strings I have (yes, I know I said in my last blog that I was actually going to do this but due to busy work/laziness, I have not actually done this yet!) and then connect up to 48 separate strings to this device. It then connects via network cables to my computer (via a network switch) and then the software on the computer tells each individual channel to turn on, off, fade, sparkle etc.
I still have a number of pieces of the puzzle to purchase (like power supplies, cables, connector plugs and some other hardware adapters) but this was the mot expensive item of what I need, so I figure now I have this, I should be able to quickly save for the remaining pieces and get cracking with the build of this display. As I type, only 69 days left until December 1st - switch on time!!
(Did I mention we're having a baby in mid December too?! Time's ticking for that also!)
