Today during my 1st week of a 2 week annual leave break from work, I took up the offer of a fellow ACL member to come over and show me some of the DC hardware used in their display. It was then a chance for me to show them what lights I had and how I could modify or re-use the in the DC world.
Turns out I can and it would be quite easy!
So much so that they have offered to come back again next week armed with some power supplies so we can get to cutting up some of my existing light sets and start to create some new sets. The plan now: Instead of having 3 store-bought sets of blue icicle lghts running along the gutters, each flashing randomly on their own, turn them into approx. 20 individual sections, all of which I'll have total control over how & when they flash & fade. I also am hoping to use some existing light sets that I have not yet incorporated into my display, cut these up and create 4-5 (or more, depending on availability of lights) mini trees, again that will have 100% computer control over.
I'm suddenly very excited again about Christmas lights!!
